Jennifer Bassett

Research Associate

Jennifer Bassett is a Research Associate at the Council of Canadian Academies.

Jennifer holds a B.Sc. in molecular biology and biotechnology from the University of Waterloo and a PhD in immunology from McMaster University.

Jennifer’s graduate work focused on the immune response to recombinant vaccines. Prior to joining the CCA, Jennifer completed post-doctoral studies at McMaster University in cancer immunotherapy. This exciting field involves harnessing the power of the immune system to attack cancer cells specifically, while leaving normal cells intact. During her time at McMaster, Jennifer was involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in health psychology, psychobiology, and immunology, and writing primary research articles and review papers.

At the CCA, Jennifer has worked on several health-related assessments. She is a passionate advocate for vaccination and enjoys keeping up with the latest vaccine research.
