Laura Bennett
Research Associate
Laura Bennett is a Research Associate at the Council of Canadian Academies.
Laura holds a BA (Distinction) in Political Science from the University of Calgary and an MA in Political Studies from Queen’s University with a focus on gender and politics, as well as political communication. She also studied at Örebro University in Sweden.
Before joining the Council, Laura worked as a Communications Advisor at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Previously, she was a member of the Parliamentary Internship Programme. As part of the Programme, she worked in a non-partisan capacity for two members of Parliament, from both government and opposition, and participated in a number of study visits to several legislatures in Canada and abroad.
Laura’s research interests include women candidates and legislators, media and politics, voting behaviour, and food security.
