Erin Bassett

Research Associate

Erin Bassett is a Research Associate at the Council of Canadian Academies.

Prior to joining the CCA in 2017, Erin was a Research Associate at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, where she focused on brain development and pediatric brain cancer. In addition to her hands-on work with brain tumor models, Erin wrote numerous publications and scientific grants, and presented her research at several national and international conferences. Erin also enjoyed mentoring graduate students and holding a position on the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine Postdoctoral Association.

Erin holds a B.Sc. in molecular biology and biotechnology from the University of Waterloo and a PhD in developmental neuroscience from McMaster University. Erin’s graduate work focused on the role of a gene family in development of the retina.
