Stefan Jungcurt
Research Associate
Stefan Jungcurt is a Research Associate at the Council of Canadian Academies.
Stefan holds a PhD in agricultural sciences and a M.Sc. in international agricultural sciences with a focus on environmental and institutional economics, from Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany). For his PhD, Stefan studied institutional interplay in global environmental governance with regard to the conservation and management of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.
Prior to joining the Council, Stefan worked as a research fellow at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam (Germany). He has also held various positions with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), including as: writer and team leader for the Earth Negotiations Bulletin, a reporting service for environment and development; thematic expert for agriculture and food security and biosafety for biodiversity-l.org, a web-based knowledgebase of UN and intergovernmental activities addressing international biodiversity policy; and as project officer in IISD’s climate change and energy program. Stefan is fluently bilingual in English and French and also speaks German and Spanish.
