Emmanuel Mongin

Project Director 

Emmanuel Mongin is a Project Director at the Council of Canadian Academies.

Prior to joining the Council, Emmanuel gained extensive experience in genomics research and software development. He started his career as a scientific programmer at the European Bioinformatics Institute (Cambridge, UK) and then as Research Associate at Harvard University.

As a manager, Emmanuel led the development of a computational framework for biologists for the Department of Primary Industry in Melbourne (Australia). Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development of open source software dedicated to genomics analysis and authored over 17 peer-reviewed papers in fields ranging from genetics to computer science. Emmanuel has also been involved in promoting research and training in developing countries. He currently holds an Adjunct Professor position in Computer Science at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Emmanuel holds a PhD in human genetics from McGill University and a Master’s degree in biomolecular sciences from the University of York, UK.
