Around the Council

Congratulations to:

  • Council Board member Richard Drouin, a recipient of the 2012 Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Fellowship Awards. Nominated by their peers and selected by an independent committee, these directors are deemed worthy of the F.ICD designation by virtue of their experience, professionalism and effective leadership on corporate, not-for-profit and/or Crown boards.
  • Michael Hayden, a member of the Expert Panel on Canada’s Strategic Role in Global Health for CAHS, who received the Killam prize for his career achievements in health sciences.
  • Susan McDaniel, Scientific Advisory Committee Vice-Chair, a University of Lethbridge Sociology Professor, and Director of the Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy, who has been named a Tier I Canada Research Chair in Global Population and Economy.
  • Former Council Board member Heather Munroe-Blum, who received the 2011 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards, in the Norton Rose OR LLP Public Sector Leaders category. Presented by the Women's Executive Network, the awards are bestowed on Canada's highest achieving female leaders in private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
  • Karen Sobel, member of the Expert Panel on Women in University Research, who has been appointed Senior Vice-President, Business Optimization, for SNC-Lavalin’s Chemicals and Petroleum business unit.
  • Tom Bursey, Vice President, Corporate Services & CFO at the Council who was selected as a Fellow of The Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
