Conrad Brunk is Director of the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Victoria.

Prior to his current position at the University, Dr. Brunk held a number of positions at the Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo including Professor of Philosophy and Academic Dean. Dr. Brunk has also served as Chair of the Legal Studies Faculty and the Faculty of Conflict Studies at the University of Waterloo.

Dr. Brunk serves or has served as a member of the Canada Research Chair Interdisciplinary Adjudication Committee; member of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Scientific Advisory Board; member of the World Health Organization Ad Hoc Committee on Biomonitoring of Human Milk for Persistent Organic pollutants; member of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation of North America Advisory Group for the Article 13 Maize Report (NAFTA); member of the Canadian Biotechnology Advisory Committee; founding member of the TSE and Food Safety Foundation; Co-Chair of the Royal Society of Canada Expert Panel on the Future of Food Biotechnology; Chair of the CIHR Grants Committee in Health Ethics, Law and Humanities; Chair of the SSRHC Adjudication Committee for Strategic Awards in Applied Ethics; Chair of the Royal Society of Canada Standing Expert Panel on Animal Research; Chair of the Royal Society of Canada Expert Panel on the Future of the Health Canada Primate Colony and; member of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's Secretariat for Expert Consulation on Principles of Risk Management in Food Trade.

Dr. Brunk holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Wheaton College , a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Northwestern University.

Dr. Brunk has published extensively in journals, books and encyclopedias on subjects related to biotechnology, risk assessment, genomics, and bioethics.
